legal ombudsman
If the complaint is not resolved to the complainant’s satisfaction within eight weeks, the complainant may have the right to refer the matter to the Legal Ombudsman, which deals with service complaints about legal professionals.
From 1 April 2023, the usual Legal Ombudsman time limits are:
the complaint must be referred no later than one year from the act or omission complained of, or one year from when the complainant should reasonably have known there was cause for complaint; and
the complaint must also be referred within six months of the final written response to the complaint, if that response satisfies the Ombudsman’s requirements.
